Live Coding Party

The Cookie Collective artists organized an Algorave staged within the installation. Each performance was carried out as a duo, pairing a visual artist with a musician. Each performance was designed to play with the immersive projection setup and/or to be spatialized using an audio server built specifically for the occasion. Throughout the evening, the artists delivered performances ranging from ambient to electronica closing with techno to end the night.

Playful Party

The audience discovered a collection of mini-games subverting our relationship with technology: a captcha parody where you must prove to a machine that you are human, a mini golf game where you send cursors to click on a mailbox overflowing with urgent messages, and a bouquet of buzzwords to shake until the speculative AI bubble bursts.

Visual Party

The Cookie artists specialize in real-time audiovisual creation. The visuals for each performance and installation were coded using technologies that allow improvising generative visuals: GLSL and free, open source tools designed by the artists for their own practice. The code was projected at 360° across the entire installation.

Immersive Party

The Club de la Communale is a space where visuals can be projected on every wall. The venue features a Dante system for sound spatialization. The Cookie built a Godot-based visuals and interactivity control room where visuals could be composed and organized and games could be hosted, along with a specialized SuperCollider sound server that distributed audio from the various performers to Dante.

Open Source Party

The Cookie Collective is an activist collective that advocates for the essential role of free and open source software in creation and the arts. The collective's artists overwhelmingly favor free, open source and DIY tools over proprietary solutions. All the tools used during Crash Party are free and available online.
